Hiking on ancient trails

Here I present excursions that will lead us to discover the ancient paths that united the various towns on the Amalfi coast before the SS 163 state road (the only road) existed. In particular, the area that involves these excursions is between Maiori and Positano.

These movements, before the state road, were made thanks to the mule tracks and paths that branched off in the upper part of the Coast and therefore within the Lattari Mountains.

What kind of excursions will be done?

To go into the specifics of the routes I will propose, I can tell you that they will develop on the paths in the “geographical” area that goes from Maiori to Positano. In addition to the unforgettable naturalistic experience, I will also arrange for you to visit the cities of Positano, Amalfi, and Ravello, which are necessary in terms of historical importance and beauty to fully understand these places. Who can participate?

A very good walking ability and good health are required. They are not technically difficult hikes but in some places they can be tiring and demanding. Especially those who have discomfort or problems with their knees should know that often you will have to go up and down the stairs that unite the countries. Trekking poles, by the way, are essential for everyone, even those who are trained! The group will ideally be about 8 people no more than 10.

Routes and daily commitment?

– Path of the Gods to Positano passing through Montepertuso. Length: 11 km / Travel time: approximately 4h – Difference in altitude + 150 m // – 700 m. E’ a trek with an elevation gain that can be tackled without worries, but is therefore not suitable for everyone: the route is in fact not recommended for those who have difficulty, even minimal, tackling the stairs. Total daily time commitment 6h including visit to Positano. The overall time does not include the times of the wind/r connection vehicles to reach Bomerano (20 minutes) on the outward journey from Positano and on the return journey back to San Lazzaro, which are approximately 1 hour and a half. The total time will therefore be approximately 10h.

One important thing I want to tell you is that I will be 100% with you! I will be your guide to accompany you to these mere places and give you all the information you will want when we are there. For me it is a second home and I will be happy to introduce you to this area of the world.

– CAI Lemon Trail 315f starting from Amalfi and passing through Ravello to reach the Lemon Trail. Or vice versa, it is still to be decided. Length: 11 km / Travel time: approximately 4h – Difference in altitude +/- 400 m. E’ a trek with an elevation gain that can be tackled without worries, but is therefore not suitable for everyone: the route is in fact not recommended for those who have difficulty, even minimal, tackling the stairs. Total daily time commitment 6 hours including a visit to Ravello di Villa Cimbrone. The overall time does not include the times for the connecting vehicles to reach Amalfi on the outward journey and to return to San Lazzaro on the return journey, which are approximately 1.5 hours to go and 1.5 hours to return. The total time will therefore be approximately 10h.
